Itinerary
This eleven-day adventure begins in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, exploring the country's historical landmarks, museums, and cultural heritage. The journey continues to Nairobi, Kenya, followed by a wildlife safari in Amboseli National Park, famous for its elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Travelers then proceed to the renowned Maasai Mara Game Reserve for unforgettable game drives and optional hot air balloon safaris. The safari crosses into Tanzania, where the journey continues through Serengeti National Park, known for its incredible wildlife and the Great Migration, before ending with a spectacular safari inside the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most unique natural wonders.
Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, begin exploring Ethiopia’s rich history. Visit the National Museum of Ethiopia, home to the famous fossil “Lucy,” followed by the Ethnological Museum to discover Ethiopia’s diverse cultures. Continue to the Lion of Judah Statue, Menelik II Square, and the National Archives & Library of Ethiopia. Conclude the day with visits to the Red Terror Martyrs Memorial Museum and the Derg Monument, offering insights into Ethiopia’s modern history.
After breakfast, travel to Entoto Mountain, where you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Addis Ababa. Explore Entoto Natural Park, take a gentle hike through eucalyptus forests, and enjoy lunch with scenic views. In the afternoon, visit Menagesha National Forest, Ethiopia’s oldest protected forest, known for its beautiful landscapes and endemic wildlife.
Begin the day exploring Addis Ababa’s contemporary culture with visits to the Zoma Museum, showcasing eco-friendly architecture and art, and Afewerk Tekle’s Home & Studio, dedicated to Ethiopia’s renowned modern artist. Continue to Unity Park, a restored historical palace complex with gardens and exhibitions. Later, explore the vibrant Chiromeda Market and the massive Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market. In the evening, transfer to the airport for your flight to Nairobi, Kenya.
After breakfast, drive to Amboseli National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. After lunch at the lodge, enjoy an afternoon game drive across the park’s open plains where wildlife such as lions, zebras, giraffes, and elephants can often be seen.
Depart Amboseli and travel through the scenic Great Rift Valley to the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. After lunch, embark on an exciting afternoon game drive where you may encounter elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, and other wildlife. Overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge.
Optional Hot Air Balloon Safari early in the morning followed by a bush breakfast. Spend the rest of the day on a full-day game drive across the Maasai Mara plains, searching for big cats, elephants, buffalo, and other wildlife. The reserve is famous for the Great Migration and its exceptional wildlife density.
After breakfast, travel to the Isebania Border and cross into Tanzania, entering the northern region of Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a game drive while traveling through the park, following the routes of migrating wildebeest and zebras.
Spend the day exploring Central Serengeti, known for its abundant wildlife and large predator populations. The iconic landscapes of endless plains and acacia trees provide the classic African safari experience.
Enjoy an early morning game drive before departing Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Highlands. Optional visit to a Maasai Village to experience traditional culture. Arrive at your lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, offering spectacular sunset views.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders. Enjoy a full-day game drive across the crater floor with a picnic lunch near the Hippo Pool. Wildlife sightings may include rhinos, lions, elephants, buffalo, and flamingos. After the safari, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
